This can happen for different reasons but don't worry! This article will help you to troubleshoot this issue.
Before trying to understand the specific reason that might be causing this please make sure that the yellow button of the gas cylinder is pushed in (see photos below).
The gas cylinder and the gas bottle are located on the same compartment, the first cupboard to your right after opening the trunk.
Situation 1 - Window behind driver's seat
Did you have the window behind the driver's seat open while the boiler was working? The boiler starts to work when you use the internal heating system/when you are heating the water.
If the answer is no, please check Situation 2.
This is a self preventive measure from VW as the boiler vent is located below this window.
Turn off the water and/or internal heating and then close the window. The gas should be no longer blinking after this.
In case the gas symbol is still blinking, please follow the accepting the error instructions (at the end of this article)
Situation 2 - Touching the gas taps below the sink
There are two gas taps on the first cupboard below the sink, these should be always perpendicular to the pipe (ON position).
In case you turn them off and then try to use the boiler, it will cause an error in the boiler unit. Please follow the accepting the error instructions (at the end of this article)
Situation 3 - Lack of gas supply
In case Situation 1 and Situation 2 did not help you, you might need to change your gas bottle. Before assuming the gas bottle is empty, please check it follow the instructions below:
- Go to the trunk and locate the first cupboard to your right;
- Click the two buttons to open the cupboard and take the gas bottle out;
- Shake the bottle to see if there is any gas left, you should feel the liquid moving inside the bottle if it is not empty
If you have no gas, please click here to see how to change your gas bottle.
Accepting the error instructions
- Go to the rear passengers seats, close to the floor level, you will find a square shaped hatch, this will grant you access to the boiler unit;
- Open the hatch;
- If you see the letters "E" or "W" on the display it means there is an error on the boiler unit;
- Click the black knob inwards once and wait for the error to go away;
- In case the error comes back after clicking on the knob, repeat the process 4 more times;
- Should the error remain in the display, please follow the instructions below to reset the boiler unit.
Boiler Reset Instructions
- Click on the circular knob inwards and rotate it until the tool option is blinking;
- Click the knob inwards again and then rotate until you see the "RESET" option;
- Click inwards and when you see "PR SET" click inwards again and wait for the boiler to reset.
